Helen
arrives two hours later with her mother and baby John. Helen apologises
for taking so long, but the baby had fallen asleep and she didnt
want to wake him. John is now awake and smiles and wriggles when
you pick him up. Helen tells you that John is drinking normally.
Examination
reveals a well-looking baby and there is no fever. The injection
site is slightly swollen, around 2 cm in diameter and is redder
in colour than the surrounding skin. There are no other abnormal
findings.
You
inform Helen that John is not sick, and that these side effects
are of the mild variety and she should definitely return for Johns
next appointment in two months time.
