Nakori
is a 52-year-old man from Nauru, a Pacific island off the coast of Australia.
He is of French/Polynesian descent. He has had Type 2 diabetes and hypertension
diagnosed for 3 years.
Two
months ago he had a left fore foot amputation for a non-healing foot
ulcer. He presents today with lethargy and a two day history of shakes.
On questioning Nakori
tells you that:
"The
last few weeks I've had no energy to do anything at all, and no, I haven't
been monitoring my blood glucose and I've neglected my feet a bit too."
