Introduction Wilma Renshaw, a 66 year old Caucasian woman presents to you for the first time in 2 years. She is requesting a 'test for diabetes'. Her older sister, Olive was recently diagnosed with diabetes when Olive was admitted to hospital with hyperosmolar coma and urinary tract sepsis. Wilma herself is not symptomatic of hyperglycaemia. She has a past history of treated hypertension, but no history of cardiovascular disease, and has a body mass index of 31 kg/m2, and is sedentary. |
