Jennie is 22-years-old, and has not consulted you for many years since she took up a career in nursing. Today she tells you that yesterday a colleague checked her BP and despite several measurements it remained at 156/96. She says she has no symptoms and when checked a year ago her BP was said to be normal. You check it today and her BP is 158/94. She still denies any symptoms, a systems review is normal, and apart from being on an oral contraceptive for 3 years there are no other significant features. There is no relevant past or family history. A physical examination is normal. |
