A young female is found unconscious in a laneway behind the local community centre, by ambulance staff and transported to the emergency ward of a country hospital where you are rostered on duty from a team of local doctors. You notice she is gaunt and has an unkempt appearance. She is still unconscious with slow shallow respiration, constricted pupils and no response to painful stimuli. Her arm has obvious needle track marks but there are no signs of any other superficial injury. Paraphernalia related to illicit drug taking was found nearby.
